Ireland's Top 10 visitor attractions for 2020 - by Independent Reader Travel Awards 2020
Cycling Tours Ireland was set up with this question in mind. We have three levels that we feel can offer everyone a great holiday without taking away the enjoyment. Experienced, Leisure or Family Cycles.
On all our tours we will note the gradient levels and distances. If you are cycling two to three times a week and can cycle 80 kilometers a day or more without feeling the effects, we would definitely recommend our experienced tours. There is also the option of using electric bikes but please note sitting on a bike for long hours can be a struggle even without peddaling.
We would recommend doing some form of training before doing any of our cycles. Getting out for twenty minutes a day will help you to build a fitness base to progress to the next level. The rule of thumb is to increase your training by 10% per week. You can also build endurance with some basic gym work. Its advisable to start training two months before your tour. If you are able to cycle 25 to 40 kilometers a day, we would recommend our leisure tours. We can also recommend tours that may be suited to your individual fitness levels. Please contact us for more information.
We also recommend proper clothing to make your cycle more comfortable. You dont need to have the latest lycra suit but just some basic padded shorts and cloths that will make you cool and dry. It is always a good idea to carry a rain jacket as the Irish weather can be changable.
Lastly we recommend you read our previous blogg on the importance of diet - see below.
